St Muredach's College had to battle against the atrocious elements and a resolute St Mary's Ballygar side in the Connacht Schools Junior Cup before advancing to the quarter finals at Heffernan Park, Ballina.
The Ballina boys led 8-0 at the break with a try from Andrew Lewis and a penalty from David White. Ballygar shot into a shock 14-13 lead in the second half with an opportunist try by their skipper Adrian Martin, but Ballina dominated the last quarter.
