Sports awards

The short-list of sports from which the 10 Texaco sports stars for 1997 will be selected has been reduced to 14. The winners of the 1997 awards will be chosen from the following disciplines: Athletics, boxing, equestrian sports, Gaelic football, golf, horse racing, hurling, motor sport, rowing, rugby, snooker, soccer, swimming and women's Gaelic football.
