Spain's players hope to cash in at the World Cup after the Federation dangled bonuses of 19 million pesetas (£89,000) each if they go all the way and lift the trophy.

Each of the squad has already received a bonus of four million pesetas for qualifying and they will get extra increments depending on how far the team progresses.

If they reach the second phase, the Spaniards will each net a further three million pesetas. If they get knocked out in the semi-finals they will earn 6.5 million pesetas and a defeat in the final will be compensated with 10 million pesetas. Spanish coach Javier Clemente gets double the various amounts.
