BALLYCLARE HIGH reached the Ulster Schools Cup final for the first time in 39 years with a well deserved 26-12 win over Wallace High at Ravenhill yesterday.

Their much bigger pack dominated possession, but it was their opponents who played the more attractive rugby although they had difficulty in breaking through the Ballyclare defence. It took some time, but Ballyclare went in front by the interval when Andrew Butler intercepted and ran in for Jonny Holmes to convert.

When a clearance kick failed to find touch, Holmes touched down before Wallace winger Jordan Grattan reduced the arrears with a try.

Holmes later goaled another Butler try and one from James Beattie before Wallace scored a late second try from Grattan which James McCallan converted.
