1997 - September: Names a dummy team for All-Ireland final, bringing in Niall Gilligan for Fergal Hegarty on the day. At victory banquet on night of All-Ireland final, he takes issue with RTE analyst - and current Limerick manager - Eamonn Cregan. Receives one-match touchline ban for the following season after encroachments during All-Ireland final.
1998 - June: Continues practice of naming dummy teams before Munster semi-final with Cork. Receives amnesty from touchline ban.
1998 - August: Touchline ban re-imposed. Gives wide-ranging interview to Clare FM attacking the Munster Council, the media and Gerald McCarthy.
