Rangers are reported to have offered Juventus striker Gianluca Vialli a three-year contract worth £1.75 million a season.
Vialli, on target as his club "reached the European Cup final at the expense of Nantes on Wednesday night, had talks with Rangers supremo David Murray at Ibrox yesterday.
The 31-year-old, who is expected to leave Juventus after his contract expires at the end of the season, said: "We just talked."
Looking to the European Cup final against Ajax, Vialli said: "We are not as technically talented as Ajax, but we can put them under pressure.
Juventus coach Marcello Lippi had much the same view, saying Ajax were so good that nobody would shoot him if Juventus lost.
"Obviously they are the favourites because for two or three years now they have put their world-class stars on display and won. But I am happy that the final is going to be played by two prestigious squads: if we lose, nobody will machine-gun me and a win would be a great achievement."
