A one-day conference, Tackling Alcohol Problems - a European and Irish Dimension - will take place on Friday April 20th at Croke Park.

The conference aims to give those working in the area of alcohol abuse in this country an opportunity to share experiences with others from the European Union who are working to prevent alcohol-related harm. Eurocare, one of the conference organisers, has 43 members in 12 EU states, five non-EU states and three internationally.

Someone in Croke Park could ask Eurocare whether the Guinness sponsorship of the hurling championship might have an impact in this area. Dr Mick Loftus, the campaigning Mayo doctor and former association president, may have a view on the matter.
