Offaly showed greater stamina in extra time to capture the Leinster title in Mullingar yesterday in a rearranged fixture due to the foot-and-mouth scare. In the meantime, Offaly disposed of Mayo in the All-Ireland semi-final last week.
Offaly led at half-time by 2-1 to 0-6 thanks to goals by Paddy Thornton and Thomas Deehan. Louth opened up a 0-10 to 2-2 lead with nine minutes of normal time remaining before two late points by David Egan brought the game to extra-time.
Offaly clinched the title when John Reynolds netted their third goal. Louth's Kevin McGeogh punched a late consolation goal.
