A knee injury sustained by Ronan O'Gara while training with Ireland in Spala, Poland, is not causing any concern to the team management. The fact the Munster and Ireland outhalf was spotted on crutches at a recent wedding prompted a flurry of inquiries.

The team's press officer, Karl Richardson, confirmed: "Ronan tweaked a knee while training on a pitch in Spala and was put on crutches to keep weight off the joint. It is standard procedure. There is nothing to it and he's already back in training."

An extended Ireland squad come together on July 29th in Limerick, from which coach Eddie O'Sullivan will choose the World Cup party, and will stay together until after the tournament. Ireland play two warm-up matches against Scotland and Italy next month.

Meanwhile Newstalk 106-108 fm will broadcast live commentary of 18 games in the World Cup, including coverage of the opening game, all of Ireland's matches and the knock-out phase. George Hook, Keith Wood, Mick Galwey, Noel Mannion, Moss Finn and Mick Quinn will provide the analysis alongside the station's own sports presenters. Shane Horgan will be providing a player's diary during the tournament.
