McGlynn's late dash

Talk about coming out of the pack to win in style

Talk about coming out of the pack to win in style. Well that is exactly what Derek McGlynn did in the Orwell Golf Society's two-day outing to Ballykisteen in Thurles.

And in doing so he set a couple of records. Derek is President of the Orwell golfing society and after round one didn't appear to be in the shake-up. But then he really hit form to charge his way through the field and claim the first prize. In that second round, the 18-handicapper amassed a highly impressive 49 points to finish on 71 points and win on a countback from Tom Feeney (16). Third place, on 70 points, was Vincent Broderick.
