Longford Town may have been a little out of sorts in Flancare Park last night but they still prevailed against a luckless Kilkenny who have now lost seven successive league matches.

A scrappy first half produced two goals, both late on and both lucky.

The visitors unexpectedly took the lead after 40 minutes through Derek McGrath. However, Longford were back on terms within a minute.

Alan Murphy worked his way to the edge of the Kilkenny penalty area before unleashing a speculative shot which flew over Matthew Nelson in the Kilkenny goal.
