PAT FLYNN, whose horses struck form in spectacular fashion at the Curragh at the weekend, could follow up by recording treble with Templeroan Prince, For Reg and Tommy Paud at his local track, Clonmel, this evening.
Templeroan Prince, successful in a bumper and two hurdle races when trained by Victor Bowens has yet to visit the winner's enclosure for his new stable. However, the manner in which he performed when second to his stable companion, Royal Albert, at the last Fairyhouse meeting, would suggest he can put matters right by taking the Ballymacarbry Maiden.
Another dual performer, For Reg missed the whole of last season, but was noted running on smartly when fifth to Premier Project at the Curragh on Saturday. The seven year old may now show the benefit of that outing by beating Diamond Display in the Barlow Merriot Radiators Tipperary Cup. Flynn is also represented here by Top weight Salmon Eile.
Tommy Paud won with considerable ease at Navan and, while he has a difficult task under top weight in the Mountain Handicap Hurdle, he may outstay his rivals. Flynn runs Digadust in the opening Comeragh Handicap, but the distance might be a shade on the short side for the four year old, an impressive winner over two miles at Listowel last season. Norcaster, third over a mile and half recently, might be more effective at this shorter distance and may take this prize for the Paddy Mullins stable.
. Identify an impressive winner at the Curragh on Sunday for Jim Bolger, has joined Dermot, Weld. A half share in the filly has been purchased by Franks Stronach, a patron of the Weld stable.
. Vivian Kennedy, trainer of Kephren, second to Katiymann at Leopardstown on May 22nd, has lodged an appeal against the decision of the acting stewards to leave the placings of the Seafield Handicap Hurdle unaltered after an inquiry into possible interference. The appeal will be heard next Tuesday.
