GAELIC GAMES NEWS:KERRY'S 2009 All-Ireland medallist Tadhg Kennelly will return to Sydney Swans after agreeing a two-year deal with the AFL giants.

Kennelly, 28, has ended speculation about his future by rejoining the club with whom he won a Premiership medal in 2005.

Kennelly’s first stint with the Swans spanned almost a decade from 1999-2008 and the club’s coach Paul Roos has officially confirmed that a fresh deal has been agreed.

Kennelly returned to Ireland for the 2009 championship season and achieved his lifelong dream of winning an All-Ireland senior football championship with Kerry.

However, the half-forward leaves under a cloud after controversial revelations in his autobiography that he deliberately set out to take out Cork midfielder Nicholas Murphy early in September’s final.

After a huge backlash, Kennelly released a statement claiming he was taken out of context by his ghost writer but the player’s reputation took a major hammering, even within his native county.

Following the All-Ireland win, speculation raged surrounding Kennelly’s future but Roos told realfooty.com that Kennelly is returning to Sydney.

Roos said yesterday: “It’s like a good Christmas and you just keep opening presents and every present is a good one.

“We finalised everything today. We had a feeling that he might have been going to come back but until we heard for definite, you never know. . .

“We found out tonight, and he’ll be here next week. . . . . It’s great for us. It’s very hard to get a Tadhg Kennelly. They don’t grow on trees. . .”
