ERNIE ELS, flush from victories in the World Cup, the Johnnie Walker Super Tour and his third successive World Matchplay title, tees off favourite tomorrow for the Million Dollar Challenge against a field of the year's best golfers.
South Africa's premier golfing event, with a $1 million winner's purse, has eluded Els in four previous appearances, but - at least on paper - he looks unbeatable in the 16th edition of the tournament at the Gary Player Country Club.
Hot on Els' heels will be British Open champion and world number two Tom Lehman, leading a strong US contingent that makes up half of the 12-man field.
Last year's winner, Corey Pavin, will be looking to retain his title despite a disappointing season so far.
Scotland's Colin Montgomerie, the top European money winner, will be looking to return to form.
