5 mins- Shefflin leaves an early mark on proceedings with a magnificent point out by the sideline and near halfway. Understandably, he punches the air in delight .0-3 to 0-1

6 mins- Kelly hits another free as the first signs of the ferocity of the Kilkenny defence becomes apparent 0-3 to 0-2

7 mins- the first few stones of the avalanche begin to fall as Eoin Larkin lands a great score despite the presence of Declan Prendergast. Aidan Fogarty does a similar trick with Aidan Kearney on his back 0-5 to 0-2

14 mins- A Shefflin free, again off Murphy's inability to contain Brennan. He really should have left him alone at the start 0-7 to 0-3

15 mins- Brennan opens his account after a fine ball in from Martin Comerford who had profited from JJ Delaney's dominance further afield. Derek Lyng adds another as Kilkenny take complete control in every department 0-9 to 0-3.

17 mins- Kelly registers his fourth free after Tommy Walsh is penalised for diving at Eoin McGrath's feet 0-9 to 0-4

18 mins- Larkin immediately replies for Kilkenny, winning his own ball before shooting 0-10 to 0-4

20 mins- Brennan's first goal after Larkin takes out two defenders with a looping pass. Not the defenders' fault as Waterford are being completely overrun 1-10 to 0-4

21 mins- Brennan's brilliant second goal includes three flick-ons at pace before Fogarty's shot is well stopped by Clinton Hennessy only for Brennan to arrive and make near perfect contact despite the attentions of Murphy. Unstoppable. Game over 2-10 to 0-4

26 mins- After Dan Shanahan and Eoin Kelly spurn goal chances, Richie Power capitalises on a mistake by Prendergast to open his personal account 2-11 to 0-4

45 mins- John Mullane eventually gets a Waterford score from play. He has the cut of a man that has just been refused in his local watering hole. Disgusted 2-19 to 0-7

46 mins- TJ Reid points after replacing the injured Martin Comerford after more brilliance from Tommy Walsh 2-20 to 0-7

47 mins- Waterford supporters begin to disperse after Larkin picks off a break before dispatching ball to net 3-20 to 0-7

48 mins- After two feeble efforts at goal from Dan Shanahan, a shadow of his 2007 self, Mullane fires just inches over 3-20 to 0-8

49 mins- TJ Reid points after Shefflin and Lyng unburden Eoin Kelly of possession 3-21 to 0-8

53 mins- Kelly points a free after Walsh fouls Mullane 3-21 to 0-9

54 mins- Quick, instinctive passes from Shefflin and Larkin tee up Lyng for a third point 3-22 to 0-9
