YOUNG Ulster hot shot Johnny Foster, of Ballyclare, confirmed his potential when he claimed the Munster Youths' championship with a final hole birdie, pipping Greystones' Alan Murray by a shot, at Douglas last Saturday.
Raymond Burns, now ensconsed on the European Tour, is the only player to have won all four provincial youths' championships and Foster will seek to take the next step towards emulating his fellow Ulsterman when he competes in the Connacht Youths'.
Meanwhile, Stephen Ryan earned a place in the folklore of Glenmalure Golf Club when the 20 handicapper conquered the course's 15th hole, a monster 248 yards uphill par three to a green guarded by rough.
Not surprisingly, the hole is deemed an extremely difficult Index one - but Ryan brought it to its knees when he recorded the first ever hole in one there.
