Seamus Heffernan followed up his treble on Thursday by partnering Headfort Rose to take the featured Tipperary Natural Mineral Water Handicap at Bellewstown last evening. The Michael Cunningham-trained filly was fitted with blinkers after a number of disappointing efforts and, having led inside the final quarter mile, held on by a neck from Helen Bach with well-backed favourite Willyever a head away in third.
The jackpot pool, which was not won on the previous two evenings, swelled to £47,841, and the 16 to 1 victory of Headfort Rose eliminated many punters at the first leg. The pool looked set to be carried forward to next year as Annaghmore Gale led at the final flight in the Crockafotha Handicap Hurdle. However he crashed out leaving the Ruby Walsh-ridden Mallaca Hill to provide two lucky punters with a dividend of £17,940 each.
