A powerful display of score taking in the second half by Galway marked them as the team to watch this year. Fermanagh had an encouraging start, and trailed by a single point at half-time (0-6 to 0-5). But they failed to take their chances in the second half and their distribution left a lot to be desired.
Galway enjoyed two spells of scoring during the second half, the first of which yielded six points to a solitary Fermanagh reply from Rory Gallagher. Their second blitz included a well-taken goal near the end from corner forward Derek Savage. He took advantage of a mix up between two defenders to lob the goalkeeper.
