Motor sport: Italian Giancarlo Fisichella is considering a "very strong" offer from Jordan for 2002, the driver's manager Gianpaolo Matteucci said yesterday.

Matteucci, who appeared to be engaging in a game of brinkmanship, said Fisichella has been offered a one-year deal to stay with Benetton-Renault next year, but added that Jordan are interested in his services.

Benetton-Renault have an option on Fisichella until midnight tonight and Matteucci said he has also been in discussions with Arrows. But he added that nothing is finalised yet. "We have a very strong offer from Jordan," said Matteucci.

Benetton-Renault have an option on current Jordan driver Jarno Trulli as well as Fisichella, but Matteucci denied that Trulli is the key man in the negotiations.
