Rangers 1 Inverness CT 1:  Rangers manager Alex McLeish has revealed midfield lynchpin Barry Ferguson is carrying an injury. The Scotland captain netted his first goal on Saturday since returning to Ibrox in January - but it was not enough to beat Inverness who came away with a deserved league point thanks to substitute Bryan Prunty's last-minute equaliser.

McLeish let it be known the 27-year-old has been playing while not fully fit. "He has a wee bit of a strain on his knee - but he is too valuable to the team to leave out," said the Rangers boss. "Also, everyone knows what he is like in terms of commitment. He wants to play."

Rangers were without 17-goal striker Dado Prso following his sending-off at Hearts in midweek. Scotland international Steven Thompson replaced him as Nacho Novo's strike partner, but struggled to make an impact.

The furore which surrounded Rangers' last-minute penalty winner at Hearts is still rumbling. The Edinburgh club is demanding an inquiry into the decision.

While their call for a replay is sure to be ignored by the Scottish FA, McLeish admitted such an intense mid-week 90 minutes took its toll on his players. "I think that was a factor. I think after the events of Wednesday it was quite flat."
