Ard Scoil Rís 17 Glenstal Abbey 7:ARD SCOIL Rís advanced for a home tie against Rockwell in the Munster Schools' Junior Cup thanks to a hard-earned win over Glenstal at Coonagh.
The scoreline greatly flatters Ard Scoil, who had to wait until the final minute to seal the win with an intercept try by Shane Fenton, which David O’Mahony converted.
O’Mahony also added to a first-half try by Lloyd White.
The late try was the culmination of superb play. Paul McNamara kicked ahead on the ground and with quick hands, the ball was moved out the line to Fenton who touched down between the posts.
Outhalf O’Mahony also landed a huge penalty from near the touchline to have Ard Scoil in front 10-0.
That was three minutes into the second half but Glenstal then gained control and were rewarded following a serious of pick-and-drives when Neilus Mulvihill crashed over.
