AT least five supporters were killed and dozens injured when the crowd panicked after the World Cup qualifier between Nigeria and Guinea on Saturday, according to local press reports.

The problem began after security forces locked the main gate out of the stadium to allow local officials to leave before the public.

The 50,000 strong crowd, unaware the gate was locked, began pushing and shoving as they tried to get out, causing panic.
