CHRIS EUBANK flew into Heathrow last night with May 15th in Abu Dhabi still his target date for a shot at the world light heavyweight championship.
"I'm still trying to get it on then, and hopefully it will be for a world title," said Eubank, these days discarding the cane and monocle of an English gentleman for the attire of the Muslim faith. "I will win a world title, and it doesn't matter which version it is."
Eubank stopped Colombia's Camilio Alarcon in Dubai last month to record his second comeback victory in the Middle East and he is hoping to fight again in Britain in mid to late autumn.
"I needed that win to get a high rating and I managed to get it," added Eubank. "I spoke to the chair man of the WBO and he said if I beat this man I'll be number four in the world, but the top light heavyweights won't let me in at the moment."
In Eubank's WBO title days under the promotion of Barry Hearn, his financial details were often made public. Now Eubank, who has spent much of the last eight months in the Middle East and plans to return again in a few days, makes it a taboo subject.
"My financial affairs are my concern," stressed Eubank, who now promotes himself.
