John Dunlop has trained the winner of the 1,000 Guineas in the opening year of the past two decades but whether he can repeat the feat at the start of the millennium is open to question following the success of Iftiraas in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes.

The Arundel maestro had trained four of the last 10 winners of the Group Three affair.

However, Dunlop is more likely to opt for a trip to the continent with Iftiraas than take the road to Newmarket after the Pat Eddery-ridden filly got the better of her eight rivals who were headed by Glen Rosie (four lengths behind the winner) and Crimplene.

Lahan was a warm 9-4 favourite for the seven-furlong event, but faded into fourth place under Richard Hills.
