It proved to be tight all the way in the recent Irish Association of Golf Club Secretaries outing to the Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links.
However, in the end the spoils in the Hamper outing went to Royal Tara's Bob Deignam. The nine handicapper's 37 points was matched by two Dublin club Secretaries, Arthur Cahill of Clontarf and Howth's Joe Carberry, but with the best back nine, Deignam emerged victorious.
Jim Ironside of County Sligo and Gerry Montgomery of Bray took the nines prizes, with 22 and 19 points respectively.
