GALWAY Hurdle bound Dance Beat, trained by Jessica Harrington, flopped in last night's County Wexford Publicans Apprentice Maiden under Paul Hourigan.

Sent off at 1 to 3, the favourite was headed by eventual winner Tartan Lane before the turn in and dropped away tamely to finish third.

The Ladbroke Hurdle winner was found to be in season after the race and Harrington said afterwards: "I'm not surprised she got beaten as she wasn't herself beforehand and looked very big. She will run at Galway next Wednesday as planned."

Tartan Lane was keeping up the food recent run of Curragh trainer Michael Grassick as well as providing jockey Stephen Carson with his first victory under rules.

Tom Treacy partnered the Paddy Mullins trained Father Michael to win the Club Orange Maiden Hurdle. Treacy then revealed he will not be travelling to Australia with the Irish Jump Jockeys team who depart after the Galway Festival.

"With the suspension and being away in Australia, it would do me a lot of harm to be away so I am pulling out of the trip," he explained.

Comrade Chinnery, carrying the colours of the Armagh based Red Ned's Racing Club, landed the penultimate County Wexford Publicans Handicap.
