Crowe makes his mark again

A touch of class by Glenn Crowe 10 minutes from the end ensured that Bohemians took maximum points at Terryland Park on Saturday night. It was Crowe's second time this season to find the net at the Galway venue.

United made three changes in personnel from the side which was defeated by Cork City in mid-week. They had a chance to take the lead after 20 minutes when Ollie Neary acted as provider for Fergal Coleman, but his shot struck the crossbar.

A back pass six minutes later from Bohemians' Maurice O'Driscoll was intercepted by the in-rushing Eric Lavine, but he shot over the bar when a goal seemed on as he faced an empty net.

Bohemians could also have taken the lead eight minutes before the interval when Crowe played a perfect defence-splitting pass into Gareth O'Connor, but he sent the ball wide at the righthand post after he had found himself in a one-on-one situation with goalkeeper Eddie Hickey.

Galway United started the second half well and had a penalty claim denied in the 71st minute. However, Bohemians hit the net when Crowe drilled a left-foot drive from 12 yards which went high into the roof of the United net. It was Crowe's ninth league goal of the season.
