James Courtney took advantage of the perfect weather conditions to win three races and break the course record at the Skerries road races on Saturday.

Courtney, from Antrim, had his closest race of the day in the 600 cc event, where he beat Bob Jackson by 0.14 seconds. Adrian Archibald, from Ballymoney, came third. The fight for the lead was a hard-fought battle between the three riders; and the Courtney-Jackson-Archibald procession to the chequered flag repeated itself in both the Open race and the 10-lap grand final.

In the Open race, Courtney broke the record for the 2.9 mile road circuit when he powered his 750 cc Honda RC45 to complete the third lap at 103.99 mph.

The two 125 cc races proved to be very exciting, with Gary Dynes and Owen McNally constantly swopping the lead on the bumpy, narrow road. Dynes won the first race by 0.18 seconds. McNally, won the second in similar style.

Bob Jackson, from Cumbria, proved that he is one of the best all-rounders. He finished second in three big races, as well as third and fourth in the 125. But Jackson earned a well deserved victory in the second Classic race on a Manx Norton.
