Sweeping to a 4-3 victory over the holders University of Ulster yesterday, DCU ensured that there will be a South v North final in the Mauritius Cup at St Clare's today. In this morning's semi-finals, DCU - who topped Pool A with a 100 per cent record - are at home to city rivals UCD while Queen's, the clinical Pool B winners, take on their fellow Ulstermen at Dardistown.

The University of Ulster found themselves trailing all the way as DCU led 2-1 at half-time and finished convincing victors with Brian Doherty and Trevor Parsons notching two goals apiece.

Queen's did not concede a goal in also taking full points but their margins were slender in a tournament which has been more evenly balanced than for many years. Andrew Slane was their match winner against both UCC (2-0) and Limerick (1-0) yesterday.

UCC challenged UCD spiritedly for second place in Pool B before the Dubliners made certain of a semi-final place with a neatly taken goal by Graham O'Meara.

Andrew Jones had given UCD the lead but with a lively performance by John Enright in midfield and sharp goal-keeping by Ciaran Bohane, UCC were in the reckoning with a goal from their captain, Sam Fuller, until UCD gained control in the closing stages.
