OWEN CASEY arrived home in Dublin last night following his chastening experience, earlier in the day, in the qualifying rounds of the French Open tennis championships at Roland Garros.

The Dubliner was outclassed on the slow clay surface of court 10 by his Russian opponent Andrei Cherkasov, ranked 140 in the world.

After his 6-0 6-0 defeat Casey said "He kept me on the base line with loopy top spin and passed me on my own serve. Unbroken concentration at this level is vital. If he is 140 in the world what must Muster be like to play".

Casey, with a ATP ranking of 318 in singles but considerably higher in doubles, will now concentrate on grass court play and has, entered for Queens Club, Nottingham and Beckingham in the run up towards Wembledon qualifiers.
