RACING:THE FINAL fixture of the Listowel Festival bit the muck on Saturday after heavy rain forced an abandonment. But no such problems are expected for Ballinrobe's meeting this afternoon.
Ground conditions at the Co Mayo track were “heavy” yesterday but course manager John Flannelly reported: “It’s a fine day here and the forecast is for some light rain tonight and just cloudy conditions tomorrow.”
Testing conditions shouldn’t be an issue for the JP McManus-owned Ballyhoura in the opening maiden hurdle. The going was a lot quicker on his last start at Killarney but Ballyhoura ran well on the soft prior to that at Roscommon.
The McManus colours can also score with Ainama in the conditions chase while Arch Rebel should also be okay on the surface in the concluding Beginners Chase after a decent third at Killarney.
