Police called in as son refuses to clean his room

MAGPIE: A FATHER in America called police because his 28-year-old son wouldn’t clean his bedroom

MAGPIE:A FATHER in America called police because his 28-year-old son wouldn't clean his bedroom. Andrew Mizsak, of Cleveland, Ohio, called 911 after a domestic argument got out of hand.

His son, also called Andrew, had thrown a plate of food across the kitchen table and clenched his fist at his dad when told to clean his room. Andrew junior, who serves on the local school board, told the Cleveland Plain Dealer: "I know this looks bad."

Mizsak jnr, who lives with his parents and also works as an independent political consultant, was “crying uncontrollably” after being told to clean his room, according to a police report.

Mizsak snr (63) decided against pressing charges and told police: “I don’t want to ruin his political career.” His son said he was embarrassed to have taken police away from more important work. “My dad and I love each other very much,” he said, promising to keep his basement room clean.

SPEAKING OF political promises, a Croatian politician has been swept to power after promising voters he would rip them off at every opportunity.

Josko Risa was voted mayor of Prolozac near Split with a landslide victory using the slogan: “All for me – nothing for you.”

“I just told them the truth. This town will be like my family business. If I get a little something, so do they,” he said.

Locals who backed Risa said they would be happy to have him as mayor, despite his bizarre campaign pledge. Ivan Vjisnic (57) said: “We know what we’re letting ourselves in for. We’re going to get ripped off no matter who takes over. At least he’s being honest.”

A READER writes: Your fascinating report (Magpie, May 15th) on the discovery of governmentium suggests the following scientific hypotheses. There are three elements, governmentium, adminstratium and parlementum. These form a nucleus commonly referred to as the “powers that be”.

When fission occurs in the nucleus there is an enormous release of energy. This process is called a “revolution”. However, the three elements are not then destroyed. They recast themselves with apparent, not real changes, fashioned by rules termed ideology. Many doubt the existence of these rules, thinking that the only rule that applies is the survival instinct found in all nature. This survival instinct is particularly important during the revolutionary process since that process destroys much matter, living and other. The morons and peons referred to in your report are particularly vulnerable in the process.

Sub-atomic particles within governmentium are termed “parties”, which form groups within the parlementum element. This element is always in tension which leads to its periodic fission. This is the cause of the half-life cycle of governmentium of six or fewer years.

The cycle is termed “half life” because the destruction of parlementum is apparent, not real. The parlementum is recast with slight changes in the masses of the party particles and hence in the strength of the forces of attraction and repulsion between them. All the three elements require energy in the form of money from economium. Whether the mass of economium is increased or reduced as a result is not fully resolved despite the vast body of theory and research known as economics.

Some consider that insufficient attention has been given in that research to the Second Law of Thermodynamics, which holds that the total entropy of the universe, a measure of its disorder, is increasing. It is also held that a system that has a high degree of unpredictability has high entropy. The system discussed above has this characteristic. – Yours etc, Carrion Crow, Dalkey Quarry, Dalkey, Co Dublin
