Sir, - In the course of the coverage of the banning of the Youth Defence advertisements, a number of newspapers, including your own, felt obliged to refer to the group in derogatory terms.

Not unlike other youthful protesters, YD may well express themselves with less politeness and more clarity than we would, at times, like. But is it really the mode of expression, rather than the message, that is the problem?

Why is it all right to do such things to a baby, yet all wrong to tell people what's being done? - Yours, etc.,
