Madam, - I cannot give a definitive answer to Dawn Edge-O'Neill (June 7th) as to why men take part in the Flora Women's Mini Marathon. However, I know that some raise money for charitable causes.

Madam, - I don't have an answer to Dawn Edge-O'Neill's important question, but perhaps I can point her in the right direction. She might contact the ladies who have been trying for years to force Royal Dublin and Portmarnock golf clubs to accept lady members, even though the men clearly do not want them and feel entitled to run their private clubs as they see fit - much indeed, I suspect, as do the organisers of the Mini Marathon.
I am sure that, in a spirit of solidarity, these ladies will furnish a relevant answer. - Yours, etc,
