Madam, - Seán Byrne's article in the HEALTHplus supplement of November 18th showed an extraordinary lack of knowledge of modern general medicine.

"The actual treatments which GPs now provide are very limited," Mr Byrne claims. I wonder when he last attended his GP.

I will list a few of the treatments we provide: suturing, minor surgery, cryotherapy, ECG, cardiac screening, 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, diabetic and prostate screening, Well Woman and Well Man checks, contraceptive devices, fertility and infertility checks, sexual disease screening, baby vaccines, travel vaccines, etc, etc, etc.

Perhaps you need a check-up, Mr Byrne? - Yours, etc,

Glasnevin,
