Madam, - It used to take a year to get an out-patient appointment to see a paediatric cardiologist in Our Lady's Hospital in Crumlin. It now takes almost a year-and-a-half.
While this is terrible for children and their families, it is good for the cardiac surgery waiting-list: after, all if you can't see a cardiologist, you will not get on the waiting-list for surgery.
Perhaps we could have some action instead of a reaction to tragedy? - Yours, etc.,
SHAY McCONNELL, Chairman, Heart Children Ireland, Brandon Road, Drimnagh, Dublin 12.
