Sir, – I refer to the letter from Gerry Mullins, Chief Executive, Coach Tourism Transport Council (August 2nd) in which he states that British government subsidies to bus transport in London have decreased. However, Mr Mullins is incorrect.

The annual government bus subsidy to transport for London has increased from £41 million in 1999/2000 to £700 million in 2008/2009, which is confirmed by KPMG’s “Independent Strategic Review of the Provision of Bus Services in London” (2009) and the London Assembly Transport Committee’s report on The Future of London’s Buses Seminar (2010). – Yours, etc,
