Sir, – Minister of State Kathleen Lynch calls for a voluntary surrendering of increments by top public servants, citing the aid the associated savings would bring to those whom in particular are dependant on services in the disability sector (Front page, November 12th). I agree with her.
She appears to be remorseful that she is constrained by the Croke Park agreement in intervening and imposing meaningful cuts to high earners in the public service. The obvious hypocrisy here is that this is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black. The Minister should lead by example: trim her own expenses and pay to a more realistic rate; get real about her own state of privilege, and when she starts preaching to others she might get respect. Until then, she has not got mine! – Yours, etc,
