Madam, - Dennis Kennedy (Opinion, November 7th) remarks that while the Dublin Spire may be a modern marvel, it commemorates nothing.
I say that the Spire, reflecting as it does the sky at any given time, is at once everything and nothing, a monument of Bishop Berkeley's unageing intellect, a great gazebo built by the indomitable Irishry to remind us of what is past, or passing, or to come. - Yours, etc,
ÁINE NOLAN, Gresham House, Cathal Brugha Street, Dublin 1.
