Sir, - I am surprised to find that recent correspondents to your newspaper have observed an infrequency of buses on the Stillorgan QBC. I have experienced the opposite.

I boarded a 46E in Kildare Street at 5.35 p.m. on August 24th. To my amazement, I was the sole occupant for the duration of my journey to Donnybrook Church, which took approximately 14 minutes. When I alighted, I stood for 20 minutes to observe the frequency of the buses. Ten passed, and only one was filled to capacity.

The success of the Stillorgan QBC in the long term will depend on those motorists, who can carry out their daily business without the necessity of a car, switching to public transport. Given an annual increase of 70,000 vehicles in Dublin over the past number of years, if measures such as the introduction of QBCs are not taken now, within two years no one will be moving anywhere. - Yours, etc.,

Alderman Senator Joe Doyle, Leinster House, Dublin 2.
