Sir, - I wish to commend the Minister for the Environment and Local Government, Mr Noel Dempsey for clarifying his position, on the proposed siting of a toxic waste incinerator metres from the newly restored Royal Canal at Kilcock, Co Kildare (July 10th).
I am delighted to hear that the Minister is opposed to this incinerator (emissions from which would include cancer-causing dioxins) at this totally inappropriate site.
My apologies to the Minister for alleging he was in favour of this site (July 7th), as he says in his letter: "This allegation is completely false and without any foundation."
Thank you, Mr Dempsey, for being the first Minister to come out against this incinerator and I hope your fellow Minister in Kildare (representing the Kilcock area) will do likewise. - Yours, etc.
