Madam, – I so wish that we, the people of Ireland, would pursue the Government for redress for its crime of bringing the nation to ruin, with the same energy and clamour that followed the Ryan report.

Firstly, Brian Cowen has never apologised to the nation for this crime. Redress should include a “respectable” cut in all politicians’ and bankers’ salaries and cancellation of bonus, expenses, golden handshakes etc.

A Bill could be rushed through the Dáil (they can do it when they want to!) giving the Government the right to confiscate the assets of the bankers and developers who have been the acute cause of this ruin, and to charge them in court for white-collar crime.

We are all taking this lying down.
