Madam, - Susan Philips (December 20th) asserts the marriage is solely "a relationship. . . which can lead to the arrival of children". Surely "the arrival of children" would include adoption.
As the proposed civil partnerships will afford same-sex couples the right to adopt does, this not mean that Ms Philips is promoting the idea that gay and lesbian couples who adopt be recognised as married families? - Yours, etc,
