Madam, – Cardinal Brady is forecasting the end of marriage and the family if this pallid Civil Partnership Bill is passed into law. (“Greens defend plan for same-sex civil unions”, August 24th). Equally the introduction of divorce and contraception legislation were predicted by the Catholic hierarchy to undermine our society.
Ironically, it has been economic greed rather than sexual orientated legislation that has created the greatest devastation to our society in modern times. – Yours, etc,
A chara, – “Heterosexual and homosexual couples cannot be equated and it makes no sense to treat them in the same way.” So says Dr John Murray, a spokesman for the Iona Institute. I’m afraid I disagree with Dr Murray.
Heterosexual and homosexual couples can be equated. I, and many others, equate them all the time. My gay friends who are in relationships are quite the same as my straight friends in relationships. They have all one thing in common – love.
How bad for the Iona Institute to allow their fears and prejudices cloud their judgment and vision. They are Christians. Think what Christ would think of such lack of charity and understanding to our gay brothers and sisters. – Is mise,
Madam, – May I respectfully suggest to Cardinal Daly that there are many more serious threats to the Irish family than the proposed Civil Partnership Bill? Among them is the cruel legacy of the decades of murder, enslavement and rape of thousands of children by his institution and under its watchful eye. – Yours, etc,
