Madam, – Congratulations to the Irish rugby team for keeping their grand slam hopes alive and the country’s spirits up in these gloomy times.

What a pity that when the English team next plays in Dublin, 30,000 fewer spectators will be able to attend. At least the ticket touts have a light at the end of this recessionary tunnel! – Yours, etc,

RONAN HAYES,

London W10.

Madam, – My enjoyment of the televised Six Nations tournament is being marred by the intrusion of the “RBS” logo painted so obtrusively on the pitches and displayed on the hoardings and the goalposts.

We all know that the so -called “royal” bank has had to be rescued by the UK government. To me its logo signifies catastrophic failure combined with skulduggery. Seeing it on the hallowed turf of Croke Park made me feel like throwing up. – Yours, etc,

DAVID HOUGH,

Newtowncunningham,

Co Donegal.
