Sir, - I read Tim O'Brien's Irishman's Diary on the Glen o' the Downs (March 1st) and wondered are we hell-bent on repeating the same mistakes over and over again. Three of the proposed routes for the new N3 dual carriageway between Dunshaughlin and Navan go within 700m of the summit of the Hill of Tara, one of our most significant historical and archaeological sites, predating even the Egyptian Pyramids.
If any of these routes are selected by the National Roads Authority another vital part of our heritage will be ruined for all time. - Yours, etc.,
Eleanor Finnegan, Dunsany, Co Meath.
