Sir, - As an Englishwoman, was enchanted by Mary Harney's ideas for Northern Ireland. A written constitution - a bill of rights - democratic institutions! My immediate thought was: Can we in Britain have some too, please?
Depression descended when I realised that until Britain gains these bastions of democracy. which its governments have resisted for centuries, the likelihood of Northern Ireland gaining them too is remote indeed perhaps Ms Harney could stir this up a little more, and help bring about a wee revolution east of the Irish Sea?
