Sir, I was intrigued to find, on the same day, a Fianna Fail supplement in the Sunday World with a big heading, "It's Time to Clean Up Our Act", saying what wonderful things Fianna Fail were going to do on the environment, pollution, etc - and a new breed of election poster stuck on lamp posts, bus stops and so on. These posters are tall and thin and are physically stuck onto these metal pieces of street furniture all over Terenure and Rathgar and other areas. They are issued by Noel Whelan, Fianna Fail candidate.

I cannot see how these posters can be removed effectively without leaving splodges of white all over the area. I tried personally to remove one to see what would happen, and it wouldn't budge.

Another point for all political parties: when removing your posters, make sure that all those bits of plastic, wire and string are removed as well.

I'm sure that any organisation other than a political party would be prosecuted for such visual pollution.

Can we have a statement from the parties as to their plans for removing all this material - and in particular Fianna Fail for this new, more permanent, type of election eyesore. - Yours, etc.,
