Sir, - I was very moved by your picture (November 11th) of 84 year old Peter O'Connor of Waterford, who fought Fascism in Spain. When the young Irish poet Charlie Donnelly ("Even the olives are bleeding") lay dead in no man's land, very near the enemy lines, Peter O'Connor it was - with two others, the Power brothers, also from Waterford - who crawled out to retrieve the body. It was an act of indescribable bravery.

Peter O'Connor took part in more engagements in that war than any other Irishman. Well might the Spanish people pay homage to such a hero. - Yours, etc.,
