Madam, – May I suggest that the esteemed Garret FitzGerald (Opinion, July 18th) is wrong to tell us that we as a society face three crises. Surely he has forgotten the elephant in the room: climate change/chaos. Perhaps he has not read Nicholas Stern's A Blueprint for a Safer Planetreviewed by Eamon Ryan in Weekend Review of the same edition.
An increasing number of scientists believe that if we don’t drastically improve our performance in regard to mitigation and adaption in relation to this, that banks,budgets and competitiveness will be entirely irrelevant. – Yours, etc,
